Spring arrives in California and people are heading to the beach. As days get longer, many take advantage on the swingsets and volleyball courts.

I found this pirate ship kite quite fascinating and the perfect kite for the Redondo Beach pier.

Redondo Beach Kite Festival

Hundreds of kites took to the sky this afternoon just south of the Redondo Beach pier.

There were many interesting kite designs that were not available when I was a kid. The most sophisicated was a box kite back then.

Also interesting were all the bright colors that offset a deep blue sky.

Lighthouse

Clouds quickly took over the sky after sunset and left only a dark and cool bluish sky as a background.
