WOW. As I was driving home I crested the hill and saw the mountains on LA's northern boundary. I couldn't believe the massive snowfall in the mountains. As it was nearly sunset, I was fortunate enough to catch the last red ambers of sunlight touching the mountain tops.
Los Angeles prepared for a strong winter storm this weekend. Perhaps the biggest of the season. This first pic shows the only small break in the sky. This next picture shows theimmediate right of the first one. The rain was only a few minutes from hitting us.
Even clear, cloudless skies can create a dramatic sunset scene. The bright, warm orange sky provided a striking background for the lighthouse shortly after sunset.
High clouds started to form late in the afternoon and I knew it would be a nice sunset. I realized I must think of a different place to shoot it. Point Vicente was the place with the Catalina Islands in the background. Click on the image to see a larger version.
We record breaking 80 degrees days this January, a nice hike on the rocky coast of Palos Verdes was in order. Pleny of sea birds were abound and I caught this pair catching the air currents.
I woke up early this morning to photograph the near full moon set just before dawn. I compose this as it was descending above the Hermosa Beach Pier and the Santa Monica Mountains over Malibu.
