Like most of the US, I awoke to hear about the earthquake in Japan and a possible tsunami hitting the Southern Californian coast. The Manhattan Beach pier was loaded with people waiting for the moment the tsunami would hit the beach. It was basically nothing. It looked high tide. That was about it.
The tsunami threat didn't keep surfers out of the water. Here is one at the moment of peak impact.
